Jigsaw Flagship Store

Duke Street Emporium, Mayfair, London
Design, fabrication and installation of various changing, hangers, cases and counters for well-known, high-end high street fashion retailer.

Jigsaw is a fashion clothing retailer with outlets across the world, the shops all have an individual style, with an eclectic feel. The Duke Street Emporium follows this varied design format.

Duke Street Emporium is set in the gloriously refurbished and renovated Queen Anne Building, with a triple frontage, two entrances and over two floors. The Queen Anne building has been converted to house the 5,500sq-ft Jigsaw flagship store and associated cafe.

Gatton Joinery were brought onto the project through the principal contractor, Grosvenor, who Gatton had previously worked with on various large fit-out projects.

The style of the store follows the recent ‘Anti Big Revolution’. Whereby high street brands avoid big corporate rollouts in favour of unique and creative interior design that fits and evokes the location, reducing overt branding.

Duke Street Flagship Store shows a more refined approach to high street interior design.

From concept plans and schematics, Gatton produced detailed fabrication drawings for all fittings and fixtures. Numerous wardrobe display units, accessories units, multiple cash desks, cafe server units, fitting-room pods, various individual clothes hanging units and centre floor units have been fabricated, delivered and installed for the store.

Fitting room pods were constructed from black Valchromat MDF, graphics for ladies and gentleman’s fitting rooms were CNC-engraved, with the engraved area painted white to give a flat, flush finish. All exteriors then lacquered. This added a refined, detailed look to the fitting rooms, in keeping with the refurbishment of the Queen Anne building.

Wardrobe units are birch plexwood with coloured MDF sides, backed with OSB-chipboard and cork. Cash counters are an MDF-carcass with stone exteriors. All units and counters fit the space perfectly, either settling into the building or contrasting nicely.

Fabrication on all items was completed within six weeks.

All fittings and fixtures were shipped and rebuilt in-store - shipping and installation was completed within five days.

"We are delighted to be working with Grosvenor and are looking forward to creating a unique and radical destination within the West End. Our intention is to deliver the 'must-visit' store for both international and domestic style arbiters."
